This happens all the time. A song comes on while I’m washing dishes. Flashbacks to driving out past the edges of the Phoenix suburbs, past the fields and the dairy to the empty desert. The air finally crisp because November is nearly over and the heat gave way. Hollering punk rock into the night.

Dad died suddenly in 2007, when I was 29 years into repeatedly hearing a handful of artists/albums he really liked. To this day, there are certain tracks that cause me to smile in just the same way that your leg swings when doc taps your knee with the little hammer. Can't help it. Can't stop it. :)

This is true! I have a small old collection of 45s . Some were my mother’s and she used to play them when I was little. I recently bought a record player so that I could listen to them. It was so nostalgic. She passed away last winter.
