tl;dr: ZIP codes are probably still fine for 'find a store', but they're crap for data science. Use fine grained Census Blocks or at least Block Groups, or some other fine grained geospatial coordinate system for your data. (My best GIS work was at the Census Block level) 2/2

Plus codes are for when you bounce a lat-lon off a human. Copy paste, save for later, type into something. Should be easier than a string of numbers. Looks like they can have enough resolution to be useful

That's fair. As an aside, do you have any good sources of GIS data? I'm looking for urban infrastructure data for @areweurbanyet.com and so far this is the main source of datasets I've found, but I don't think it has everything I need: https://freegisdata.rtwilson.com/
