Well I think the implication is that if they acquire Ukraine they will begin to fill up their Bank and then use that to increase their military screen and then continue to express. It's a domino effect.

Europe (Especially with recent buildup) would still darf Russia both economically and militarily no matter if they manage to occupy ukraine or not.

Ukraine would probably be a net-drain on russian resources if were honest given it would see partisan actions for years.
