except what he’s saying is actually true & possible, there are agencies in which the vast majority of employees aren’t classified as essential during a shutdown but imagine the leverage trump would possess if he declared the FAA nonessential shutting down all travel until he gets something he wants

It's only true and possible because the Dems haven't spelled out a list of demands. How hard is it to say: no cuts to SS, no cuts to VA, no cuts to cancer research, DOGE out of FAA etc?

when you’re the minority by several votes your leverage is extremely limited, trump would love to blame the shutdown & resulting job losses on democrats, dems refuse to vote to 60 ayes repubs will declare a simple majority vote to ‘save’ the nation from maniacal dems, it’s not easy & it’s not good

99% of the population is unaffected by shutdowns, you think the majority are paying much attention to this, have a clue what’s in it? even the supposed outrage at repubs for the 36 day shutdown wasn’t reflected at the polls they got reelected, repubs are laughing at dems & the media isn’t helping

Ok I'm imagining Trump holding the economy hostage to get what he wants. Oh wait, I don't have to imagine it because it's happening right now. Co-signing the coup now just legitimizes it and makes his job easier.
