True, except I consider it bare minimum to not have major issues. Also 4/5 ain't bad. If the writer and editor spent a lot of effort on a book that's mediocre from a literary perspective they probably shouldn't get a 5.

I've a gut feeling the way readers rate books & the way writers rate books are quite different. I give 5 stars to any book I enjoyed & didn't have significant plot or editing issues because I know what went into it. Before I started writing, I reserved 5 stars for books that knocked my socks off.
