Disagree that this is a problem. Arrigo Sacchi was never a football player, but does that mean he couldn’t manage? Jurgen Klopp was a great pundit in Germany, but a very average player. Lack of ability on the pitch does not mean you cannot judge another’s.

Do either of them slate individuals though? A good pundit will talk about the system and incidents, rather than scapegoating individuals, as most pundits here seem to do. I find most managers are far better pundits than ex players.

Just remarking that you don’t have to have been a good player to have the ability to discusss whether a top pro is playing well or not. It’s a different discussion about the manner in which they do it, but I have an issue with Baggio’s basic premise in his quote.
