When my family goes to a Broadway show, it costs $23.20 in roundtrip subway fare for us to get there and back. The idea that a $9 toll would be too much for a family driving in was always ridiculous.

I'm actually interested in the answer to that question as well, because... if it's doing nothing but good things for everyone, why would anyone be against it?
Surprisingly, the strongest opposition is likely from suburbanites who never drive in anyway, as the strongest opposition to new urban development is from suburbanites rather than locals who will be affected (interesting new paper). It's more ideological distaste for urbanism than self-interest.
