I use to be a huge opponent of primary challenges to incumbent Democrats. However, seeing how they're handling the destruction of our country, I'm on board with challenging all of them, except @aoc.bsky.social.
Yeah, this is the problem in a nutshell. If making an incumbent vulnerable to a Republican in the general, then primarying them could backfire. Being strategic is important. But, safe for a handful like AOC as Grant notes, nearly all of these folks need to feel pressure from the left.
That's the horserace view of politics, where winning elections is what matters. Winning elections should only matter in order to enact an agenda (or to stop a bad agenda from being enacted when we're in the minority.) I'd prefer to have a minority of great elected than a majority of mediocre ones.
I thought 'horse race' was where outfits like the NYT get excited about the race, rather than the stakes?
Personally, I would give just about anything to be in a situation with tons of mediocre Dems having a majority right now. Infinitely better than these sewer clowns
Yes, I think that's right. I guess it's just that the folks who are seen as the fighters right now are mostly folks on the left like AOC. Although it's been interesting to see the Bulwark folks like Kristol speak with force on this.
