I am still not understanding where all the gate for DA:V comes from. Genuinely I think a lot of the sour feelings come from the fact that the game was never going to be everything gamers wanted the next Dragon Age to be.

The action combat is actually so engaging (finally) that I feel like I’ve overlooked some of the other flaws in the game. Like sure the writing is iffy but I have so much fun with the combat that sometimes I forget it
Yeah I felt the same like every class I played felt actually good to play. There’s always valid criticisms for the DA games and after playing through Inquisition again maybe I was more tolerant of the clunky writing cause there was a lot there too.
Oh a lot of the hate shown online is from the alt right anti woke crowd, not necessarily from the fandom. Some people in the fandom are critical of it, which is valid, even if I personally don’t agree with some of the criticisms. But the outright hate? It isn’t from us.
The outright vitriol definitely is the anti woke ideology. I’ve got my fair share of criticisms with Veilguard as well but people act like it’s burned down the family farm and razed their crops.
Yeah and that’s because of the whiny anti woke incels mostly, they are the ones making the hugest stink about the game two and a half months after its release because how dare a fourth DA game, a series that’s always had queer/POC identities/characters, have those things in them that
don’t appeal specifically to the loudest whiniest most obnoxious small subset of gamers? 🙄 They’ve done this with EVERY BIOWARE GAME TOO, but ESPECIALLY with every Dragon Age one.
Yeah it’s weird cause I feel in a lot of ways DA:I was louder and “woker” in that regard? Like you had Dorians whole story with his father as a not so subtle allegory for conversion therapy but then people get mad at a character preferring they/them? Make it make sense.
And there’s also Sera, the other gay only character. And several characters were openly bi/pan! Like. It’s literally the global cultural shift we’re all apparently suffering from. It’s poisoning the well for literally everything, including hobbies and entertainment.
