I do like how it is somewhat obvious that it's a mask, not a head. This has been the interpretation Rat intended and the attention to that is great. Good art. Good job.

Going into this, my goal was to keep it as close to canon as possible. I wanted to capture Doctor4t's vision for the character of Rat, and while I don't know how well I succeeded, I'm proud of how he turned out.

I pulled from a lot of official art and even the plushie to assist me in this. Quite a lot of things have been changed around throughout the drawing process. In fact, his tie used to be a bow.

assistant in a lot of details. I, to my great dismay, don't own one myself, so I used the official images instead.
You can imagine my disappointment after drawing, lining, coloring, and finishing up Rat's boots when I realized they were actually mary janes haha

Another goal I had in mind was to have Rat match with Folly. Their designs parallel one another, and I wanted to keep that consistent in my rendition. I probably won’t post Folly, as I’m not happy with how she turned out, but I’ll describe the decisions I made below.

First off, the purple color I used predominantly throughout Rat’s drawing is featured as the colored stripes in Folly’s socks. To parallel this, the main color I used in Folly’s dress is the color of Rat’s shoes (Folly does not wear shoes herself).

The black strip on the hem of Rat’s dress was added later on, to match Folly. Folly wears a folly-red shawl, to match Rat’s folly-red bow. Where Rat is a human in a rat mask, Folly has a genuine rat head. I made their hair the same length, their noses the same shade of pink.
