It is very difficult to live there. It is expensive and there is quite a decided lack of all things housing. LOL but it was BEAUTIFUL. Every day the bounty that you'd see was worth every second of the difficulties with travel and doctors and housing and stuff. LOL

Housing access is NUTS there because they are basically a three month community. For about 3 months the population is well into the thousands.....otherwise there are only about a thousand full timers that live there LOL It's a true tourist trap if ever I saw one but SO gorgeous

That's another thing I wondered about. It wasn't crazy when we were there, but I wondered about whether the little shops and things stayed open year round, or if everything shut down.

I have never encountered a kangaroo in person. But they seem like big, strong creatures to me. I have seen videos of them strangling a dog, etc. So, I don't think I'd be so sanguine if a herd of them came bounding up to me on the tee box.......

there's a lot more than two! reds, eastern greys, western greys, antilopines, tree kangaroos, wallaroos, wallabies, euros, and only the big red males are any concern. these are not big red males, so they're nothing to worry about.

the wallabies are adorable, the smallest species are only about human knee height as adults. met one of those in the wild and it was really preoccupied with digging a hole in the ground, didn't care about us at all. it was in the middle of the road so we just had to wait for it to finish digging.

these guys are just curious, not aggressive. it's pretty rare to piss them off so much they attack, usually you have nothing to worry about if you meet them in the wild, they just bounce around and do their thing while looking really funny. leave them alone and they'll leave you alone.

No kidding. I'd be nervous! I've heard from Australians that the males get aggressive during mating season, but otherwise, they said the kangaroos leave you alone if you don't mess with them. They didn't seem too worried by being near them. But I still think I'd slowly back away. They are strong!
