A hummingbird hit our window last summer
Went out to get it
Thought it was dead
Little tongue hanging out of its beak
Started to blink
Held it in my hand for 5 minutes
It then sat upright and flew away
Came back about 2 minutes later
Hovering in front of me and gave a couple of chirps
That is a wonderful story!! I have a feeder outside my kitchen window, outside the table by my chair.They hover and look at me for a minute. I think they know my face.😁 I really love them dearly.

We love watching the hummingbirds all year here in the Pacific Northwest! This was taken earlier this week. While other hummingbirds migrate in the fall the Anna's are here all year long! 😊
If you have never seen one, Costa Rica hummingbirds are as big as your hand, fingertips to wrist. Also the land of the blue butterflies Blue Sky uses as its icon. And, Jaguars (not the cars)
Year round? That's wonderful! I look forward to them migrating here in May, but they leave in September. They come up to my face when I'm in the flower garden too!
I read a Gary Jennings book called Aztec. Chock full of historical stuff. One description was of a meeting of top chief types, all decked out in their hummingbird feather cloaks. Blew me away
I had a cat who would regularly leave hummingbirds at my backdoor. It wasn't nice but I collected the most amazing bag of tiny iridescent feathers. Thanks for the memory.

We don't get those here - our always migrate. But I remember reading that you get a number of varieties!
