The party dropped over 100 candidates when looking for 635 parliamentary candidates in 2024 but selected at least a dozen overt racists, blaming a vetting firm for the failure, dropping several after nominations closed. How high the bar was this time for the 1250 selected is tbc.

I think Farage is saying 43% rejected as unsuitable (rather than simply not selected because somebody else was). Think would have been looking for something like 2250 candidates if trying to contest everything in May 2025 (though that will now fall a bit as some set to be postponed 12 months)
