I first saw Everton v Man Utd at Goodison in May 1984, aged 10. I got the autograph of Remi Moses as well as Derek Mountfield & Kevin Richardson after the match! Wasn't at the 5-0 win that Autumn, 1984/85. I was at the FA Cup final we lost in extra-time. The game I remember v clearly was Sept 1986 - ThreadSky

A Sunday: a live BBC match, still a novelty in 1986. United had begun the season v badly: losing 4 out of 6 games.

Everton won 3-1 with iconic goals from Sharp, Sheedy and Adrian Heath.

The Everton fans sang "You're Going Down With the Villa" (who finished 22nd; Utd 11th, Everton won the league)

Here are the goals from that September 1986. Before going to Goodison from Ellesmere Port, I tried the timer recording feature on our recently acquired Betamax (!) video recorder - and it worked! - so I had a recording of that match for a long time afterwards
