@AndrewKnack - has the city ever looked to see what the cost benefit of not using concrete and asphalt would be? These seem like a better option for a lot of reasons but maybe they don't hold up with our freeze thaw cycle and road damage caused by the needlessly heavy vehicles driven here?

For sure, without them:
- mups are just sidewalks (which the city wants us to believe are unsafe to ride on) and
- "local street bikeways" are just shared streets (ie literally nothing at all)

Just a little fun fact: Klinker have been so popular in the Netherlands, northern Germany and Denmark for centuries because there are almost no quarries here. The ice ages leveled everything here and what was left was sand and clay. Perfect for clinker.

Pavers in our 🇮🇹 city are great for two reasons. First, you can tear up the road and restore the pavers without a blemish. Second, they tell drivers "this is not an area where your car is king" and they slow down / look around.
