How does that work, anyhow? Like do you carry some credentials that say “the person bearing this card is in fact the author T. Kingfisher and has the right to sign the books published under that name”?
The one episode of The A-Team I ever watched, Starbuck* was infiltrating a prison by pretending to be a published criminal-mind psychologist, and they modified a copy of the book to put his photo on the back cover. (1/2)

When the prison’s chief nurse found a real copy of the book in their library and confronted him with it, he quickly claimed it was a misprint and the real photo was actually “a… a marine biologist, or something”, and somehow pulled that off. This bit has lived in my head for 40 years, somehow. (2/2)
