Well this question has now been answered by a federal judge. Contrary to the total assurance expressed here that Trump would win, he lost on several grounds, incl. failure to have order issued thru Gov. You assert this as fact, yet 10 USC 12406 specifies that orders federalizing NG for these purposes “shall be issued by the Governor of the state,” and Trump’s own memo to SecDef says to “coordinate” with Governor. Which wasn’t done. That’s the basis of CA suit. RU saying no way that can win?

I don't think agreeing with Graeber's quote that the media act as stenographers for police departments, no matter how many times those same departments lie to them about what actually happened, requires a shift in political position 🙂

IMO my views haven't changed all that much. I think people are unavoidably messy, they bring that messiness with them everywhere they go, so scaling the number of people in a group (like the Government) scales the corresponding messiness

10 USC §12406 says "the President may call" the National Guard into service. The thing that "shall be issued by the Governor" is the order calling up the Guard. It's a restriction on the Governor (he/she must issue the order on President's demand), not the President
