As more information about the first accusation came out, it became more and more that it was, if not a fabrication, then an exaggeration being pushed for political reasons. It was the other accusations that meant he needed to resign (although it did provide cover for Trump’s own crimes)

Since then you can see the same pattern emerge in a number of political means, where an unsupportable claim was advanced first so that real victims would come forward. You could see that was the intention with Tara Reade and Christine O’Donnell’s niece accusing Biden despite being clear lies

For a certain breed of libs he was absolutely your Man in the Arena; I grew up with his books given to me from my mom after all. I just don't see why it's worth getting mad over; the handoff was clean and Tina Smith is doing a fine job!

I do think that the way it happened allowed the GOP to cover up all of the accusations against Trump. I’m not sure how it could have been handled better but it did take the heat off of Trump and put it onto Franken
