With the benefit of hindsight, fully admitting that I drew a clear distinction between NATO and non-NATO states in the former USSR and Warsaw Pact and therefore didn’t extrapolate this myself, Georgia 2008 was a “the lights are blinking red for how much DC actually cares” moment.
