Well I can see I clearly must be related to Green from this one...had a hotel for work I kept hitting a black bar on the coat rack had to get creative after running face first into it a couple times while turning out the lights for bed. And I like yellow hi vis tape on things.
Depends on the layout - we had no choice in an apartment with a stove against a wall at the entrance of the kitchen -- you could put the handle straight out into the walkway or towards the other front or rear burners on the right front burner. If its off I see no problem.
In the case of mine I think that's just kinda the nature of apartments. Not a whole lot of space and they had to cram in a stove, sink, refrigerator, and dishwasher. So they ended up with them really packed tight. Dish drainer BARELY fit between sink and stove, microwave on the only other spot
Chef trick is to always stick a wooden handle into the pan's open loop at its end. Nice reminder its cooking, or needs cleaning. You do have some wooden ones, yes.
I remember having this drilled into me as a child, except that it was so that little kids wouldn't be able to grab the handle and pull a pan down onto them.
Of course, the fact that i was the youngest in my household didn't stop me from taking it very seriously.
Okay but you should also make sure the handles aren't over any other burners, if possible.
You don't wanna risk one of them being turned on, and then whoops, the handle is unusably hot.

Nice to see you here. I discovered you on Mastodon ages ago. 👋
Say hello to burnt off palms and melted plastic.
"Is this actually a thing?"
My uncle:

(potentially just wanted to be super lazy, or was restricted due to the electrician & gas man where they put their respective pipes).

I usually have to get a mit, because the stove is just too hot regardless. Easily get burned from pots and pans when the oven is on for example.
