The speaker of the second statement could like both things, hate both things, or like one thing and not the other thing. A comparison really busts open the realm of possible meanings.

i make it quite clear in spelling out it was her *response to Trump*
if i bring up apples and getting kicked in the teeth, there is no relevant relationship between the two, so no context
