Remembering Warrington-born actor Pete Postlethwaite, born #OTD 1946. Films included in The Name Of The Father, Distant Voices, Still Lives and Brassed Off. Died in 2011, aged 64.

Absolutely the star of Brassed Off closely followed by his screen son. Mixed feelings on Brassed Off I absolutely loved the last half hour. Dad wasn't a fan a lot of ex Grimethorpe miners n the band weren't as they felt it took a rise out of them at times.

Warrington local boy so I’m proud of him. He and Julie Walter’s were the power acting couple with real regional accents. Pete Postlethwaite was considered the worlds best actor by Stephen Spielberg 🤷‍♀️⚡️✨

Did a great wee cameo as Lorbeer in 'The Constant Gardener'and an excellent 'last man standing' in 'The Age of Stupid'. They made 'The Age of Stupid' in 2009 and here we are 16 years later with most people still not copping on. Pete did though.

Brassed Off is one of my top 5 movies ever made ,read petes autobiography, last couple of chapters after he got his prognosis were the most heartbreaking thing I've ever read ,rip one of the greats

My father in law was the miner in charge of health and safety on set. You can see him in the opening scene as they go down the pit shaft at the start of the film.
