When schools reopened in TX, our Gov disallowed masks. My brother temporarily moved my niece & nephew to private which ended up being anti science & STEM. They moved back to public soon after. Private was segregationist w/intent of “Christian” indoctrination. If the kids can’t think for themselves..

New Orleans Public Schools (NOPS) played a major role in the nationwide spread of voucher-paid public education... esp. after Hurricane Katrina, when the firing of 1,000's teachers resulted in privatization (chartering) of schools (and a significant reduction in the New Orleans Black Middle Class).

They tried to pass it through the legislature here, but opponents took them to court and got the law overturned as unconstitutional. Then the legislature put a constitutional amendment on the ballot, and we soundly defeated it at the ballot box. Should be over now? Fingers crossed.

can you state the problem here exactly? if everyone receives the vouchers, there should be plenty of demand to fund school that are as inclusive as one could ask for. address inequality with an expanded social safety net, not market distortions.

There's plenty of published content explaining all the ways vouchers fails community, education, equality, & equity. When our schools went that route, the private schools increased their pricing. All families still had high educational costs & it still blocks low income families from attending.
