As an educator, this type of letter should go to the school board, not the principal. Principals are easily fired and are under constant pressure from the district office. They have very little control over those types of things. A good principal is already quietly doing what is in the letter.

I am a retired teacher - what I would do if still teaching -I would only call students by their last name-less stress for vulnerable students and less stress for me as their teacher-I would also revert to the old Quaker - thee & thou! Educator here. Honored to teach for a Community of color. Please consider how this demand puts responsibility on the building admin who can be fired at the drop of a hat. Opsec applies to them too — a good principal can potentially do more for trans kids by staying under the radar.
