The flip side: In the '60s-70s, the cops didn't have phones, bodycams, and surveillance cameras everywhere either, and the ability to ID protesters using cell phone data-location info. A lot of the Jan. 6 arrests were based on that.

All of this is legally correct.

But in practice, be aware that these perfectly legal behaviors may lead to beating, tear gas, arrest, and other forms of retribution. Have a buddy and a plan in case bad things happen to one of you. Make sure someone who isn't at the protest knows you're there.
