Received both Covid and Flu vaccine in Fall and still ended up with bilateral bacterial pneumonia that put me in the hospital for a week and I’m still coughing and on antibiotics 2 months later. Oxygen needed at home. Really scary bad stuff, be safe!
My friend has tested negative for everything but gotten sick 4 times this year. I live in the same house and haven't gotten whatever he has a single time. Neither has my partner. It's strange.
Mostly because we find it culturally "distasteful" to call a person or group of people "stupid" so we wrap it in a dissociative "low IQ" so it's not US saying they are dumb, it's science! ;) I also don't like it because of you're gonna call someone stupid, have the guts to just say it.
It's also used culturally/linguistically (as in this case) as shorthand for "dumb" vs "smart". Which is obvious, and while you're technically correct it's obtuse not to understand it's general use in online discourse.

I'm current on flu and Covid vaccines. Last month, I got the worst virus I've ever had. Tested negative for flu and Covid. I was down for the count about ten days and, a month later, my ears are still partially plugged. Ugh..
Ug . I hate when that happens. Our ear remedy is a mixture of 50/50 alcohol and vinegar. The vinegar balances the pH and alcohol; promotes drying. Great for preventing swimmers ear and clearing up those plugged ears. Not sure if it will work for you, but we rely on our "swimmers drops"
I'm hoping not to appear as to give you medical advice.
I swim. If I don't have access to these drops, I don't swim.
White vinegar and alcohol bubble on contact and don't smell like salad. When we were kids, there were many remedies attempted and failed. Some like olive oil, not in my ears!
Did not think so and point taken. Guess it was a childhood ptsd flashback to the smell of whatever was in those damn stinky drops when I read "swimmer's ear". I battled it every summer.
Yes! We battled swimmers ear every day. The winter months were toughest. If we left a workout without a hat,$5 fine from the coach...a small fortune! Your issue may be quite different, but I sympathize. No one like plugged ears!
When you have 54% of the adult population that speaks, reads, & writes at a 6th grade level, or less you're going to have many antivaxxer imbeciles. Those window licking dipshits then pass on their idiocy to their cretinous progeny. Immunocompromised pay the price for their fucking moronic lunacy.
Spoiler: Covid damages the immune system, even if you don't feel sick after an infection. For some this phase of immune deficite restores quickly, for other it's months or years. Any viral infection makes this worse and worse.
I strongly agree that covid is more dangerous than our society wants to accept, but I cant find a valid study that has come to the conclusion that covid IS doing this to the immune system. They bring this theory up in the podcast as well and talk about how this also hasn't been seen at the pop level
I see plenty of studies talking about covid's impact on T-cell production and they hypothesize that this MAY lead to immunodeficiency, but so far, none have found anything close to causation. And I say this stuff with no intention to start a fight, am I missing a source?
all I am saying is we dont know for sure (which DOES NOT MEAN we should not be cautious) In that resource you shared which is very handy btw ty! they are also padding their language. We don’t have such a clear path of causation from covid->fewer T cells->greater flu deaths, it just MAY be that
You know who didn’t get hospitalized or die from the flu, pneumonia and Covid this “season”? People who got the vaccines for those diseases. Wild eh?! Thoughts and prayers!
My family is fully vaxxed and boosted and are currently fighting a terrible covid strain. There are no major warnings going out anymore. Please be cautious right now.
An interesting exploratory discussion although no real conclusions about why the high flu rate. I was surprised that flu is now higher than covid cases but I'm wondering if the flu is misdiagnosed and it is in fact covid.
The disappearance of certain viruses and bacteria from our human bodies leaves an empty ecological niche that can be filled by other, more evolved viruses or bacteria that can resist our endogenous or exogenous weapons.
Comments
- Normal viruses finally rebounding post-COVID (keep in mind COVID is substantially more infectious than most normal viruses)
- Long COVID reducing people's ability to fight other viruses in some cases
- Increasing levels of mental and physical stress
Many present with what seem like flu symptoms but test negative for everything.
Also flu positive patients who are sick for weeks, even months.

The remedy I present is tried and true
Hospitals full

Everyone I know has been sick with something different this year, so I definitely see what they’re talking about here.
