Your question about the 76ers path is interesting - they'd need to get to 4th to have a more than 50% chance of keeping the pick.

I think the recent four-game win streak has made Philly's decision for them - they aren't catching the four worst teams and it's probably already too late to tank:

I see an easy path for 76ers to get to 6, as Portland and Toronto are trying to win, but can they get under Wiz, Jazz, Pels, Hornets, Nets? That seems like a really tall order.

Not saying/predicting this will happen, but: Never underestimate how easy it is to shut down great/good players, and how quickly you can start losing when you do. Especially if you're as top-heavy as Philly. But your point is correct, of course.

the Knicks defense has wilted... to 13th? Does that qualify as wilting? Not 23rd or 30th, but 13th is wilted? Is it as good as last year - no. But it's been solid for the most part and can be unreal some nights.
