I understand why Americans want to take issue with the use of "we" here but I promise you that people outside the U.S. aren't going to treat the "good" Americans with kid gloves when shit gets real, economically or otherwise. "We" elected Trump as a country, whether we like it or not.

In Europe in 2009 with fellow classmates they were asking us why “we” started the Iraq War, did not matter that we personally didn’t like it/Bush, you are the collective “WE” when abroad. Hard lesson for Americans to understand.
