There's an upside to able-bodied people coming to Canada, more people to pay for the services we need. Our individual costs for health care are VERY low, and we can keep them low by adding more taxpayers.

Canada will gain some very smart and competent individuals. US will suffer the brain drain. π¨π¦We are a beautiful diverse country who welcome all ethnicities. And the ethnic foods are amazing π€!!!!π¨π¦ππ¦π¨π¦
Sadly Canada doesn't take retired seniors. I mean by Canadian law I can live in Canada but for only 6 months then I would have to return to the US for at least 6 months before I can return to Canada for yet another 6 months. Maybe if things get bad enough I can claim political asylum?
Iβve considered relocating to Canada. My skills transfer seamlessly, I speak the language well, and I genuinely love the country and its people. I might struggle with saying βabootβ for the first six to twelve months, but Iβll get the hang of it.
honestly, my post was intended to be "for Canadians" who were worried about people coming to Canada. I'm an immigrant myself, I came to Canada as a child in the 80s.
Depressingly, Canada locked down immigration in 2023 (in part to please the USA which is Ironic)
Anyone know if Canada will accept steel workers from the US on some kind of program? I'm trying to see if I can get my partner up there in case we need to leave the US.
We have a kiddo who recently started the journey of figuring out who they are. And I'm worried for their future life here.
If you are for real coming to Ontario, I'd recommend "Niagara on the Lake" it's a bit pricey (but cheaper than staying at the falls) and it's nice (especially in late summer or late spring)
The East Coast has History and the West Coast has life! Everywhere in between is a variance on that.
Iβm for real, just not sure where.
I like to visit a historical area with parks and walking areas, small town feel. It will be around October, that is if Iβm allow to travel with a fascist leader in office.
I have never been, but I hear that Quebec city is supposed to be beautiful with plenty of historical areas and sites. There may be a language barrier though.
Maybe Ottawa, the language barrier wouldn't be a problem there.
Are you flying only? On a budget? The mountains out west are phenomenal.
No, I will be driving up to a certain point. Itβs according what I plan to do. I love train travel, if it has different spots they stopped in for a few hours each day. Iβm not keen on flying in the airplane right now. Trump took away the regulations.
I lived in Kimberley for a year and it's a beautiful small town in the mountains that has an Austrian flair downtown.
Golf and a ski hill locally, the town was around 6000 when I was there.
Victoria on Vancouver Island is a beautiful city and doesn't feel big. Can be a bit spendy there though.
If Canada were to increase their immigration quotas, I think there would be a small flood of applicants from the United States. I would be one of them.
I'm Jewish. That seems like I'd be going somewhere worse.
So far no one is shooting up Jewish schools down here or Synagogues. Those who hate us are sticking to graffiti for now.
Grands last name was Waldrop. Hang on Canada, you may have to deal with a lot of expats if you will have us. I do have a mind to stay here and cause some good trouble.
You have healthy people paying for sick people so there is money for the healthy people if they later get sick? That sounds like insurance! Down here, Paul Ryan made sure we didnβt understand that.
There are lots of TV shows that film up there, but US actors have to be a "name" to get the visa to work there. But I'd happily *move* there to practice my craft at this point. Or, again, my state of NY could become a part of Canada. Talk about an infusion of funds and workers... :)

Let me in
Former Seattlite.
Doesnβt that make me already 40% Canadian ?
If you want cheaper hotels, you're gonna skip the major cities.
