Removing them is great, but I'd prefer to see them stripped of all the wealth that was never theirs and left to fend for themselves like the rest of us.

You might be right there, but I fear that connecting independence to republicanism will alienate that crucial middle ground you need. Step too far for a lot of folk. And then the press would ask who you'd have as a President....

For me, *who* is head of state is less important than the question if how we get rid of them.
Got no problem with President Charlie W as long as there are free, fair, and regular elections to decide it.

What this poll doesn't say is how many would vote against independence if the monarchy were to be abolished. Let's not conflate the two. Independence first.
