Just some of them. Some because there are amazing games that don't get noticed due to lack of coverage and are still out there waiting for someone with a big following to showcase them.

Animal Well mention!!!! More people need to play that game imo it's such a good little brain tease, and absolutely beautiful too (as well as *terrifying* at times, which is saying alot! HFSHG)
Amazing list! Tried to rec some indie games for a friend and he was "eww the graphics" either that or he doesn't even bother branching out to genres he never tried
Shame on him because I genuinely believe that indies have been ramping up in quality as time goes on.
A lot of devs have shown massive improvements relative to their first outing + it's becoming more common to see people nailing it on their first commercial release.
yeah, most games I have been following are indies and his missing out so many amazing games because graphics aren't realistic enough. If only he actually tried them instead of dismissing
Unicorn Overlord is so good. Tactical RPGs aren't even my jam but something about the pseudo-autobattler and the way it BEGS to be optimized tickles parts of my brain I wasn't sure I had...
Ive been praising children of the sun to like everyone who asks for new games, and my indie horror babes r gonna hear me cry mouthwashing over and over
So am I! Not to be the self-promo guy or w/e but my friend is co-developing an indie right now called StarFetchers!! The first act is free and the side game set in the training-arc of the timeline is out now too! The music is all from ppl in the community :) https://store.steampowered.com/app/2869630/Star_Fetchers__Escape_from_Pork_Belly/
This looks a lot like my recently played/wishlist. The sequel to Case of the Golden Idol comes out today if that’s your jam! I’m literally counting down to it unlocking on Steam in half an hour
It's less like Myst and more like Return of the Obra Dinn or Chants of Sennaar. I actually wouldn't describe it as a point and click _adventure_ at all, its a detective/deduction/reasoning game.
It's not your standard point and click adventure. No pixel-hunting. You're basically given several scenes in the aftermath of a murder, and you need to scour them for verbs, nouns and interactions that you can then slot into a case-board to explain what happened, who did what, how, why, etc.
I hate pixel hunting, but fortunately they let you toggle whether you want shine on the clickable items. It’s really all deduction, no combining items or trying to get the right answer from an NPC. I think the whole series is discounted this week for launch if you decide to check it out!
It's basically a whole game about that moment at the end of a good Sherlock Holmes or Poirot story where the detective sits everyone down and then explains EXACTLY what happened in perfect detail, detailing how they deduced every twist and person involved.

EXCEPT FOR UNICORN OVERLORD BECAUSE A PC GAMER RAN OVER VANILLAWARE'S DOG IN 1990 AND NOW WE WILL ALL PAY SOBSOBSOB

Iirc, I wanted to give the demo a try but at the time I was quite busy. Putting it on my Wishlist.
That said, the game does look very interesting so if I try to dip my toes into the genre again, I will give the series a try.
And then it gives you a HARDER mystery.
