The speaker makes the point that stripping Ontario Place of all environmental review and oversight sets precedent for future government pet projects, and indeed, this is exactly what has happened with Hwy 413.

Bill Greaves of ACO speaking to different approaches to loving the built environment, contrasting Leslie Spit with Ontario Place. Also loved his bookend talking about the trees at 401 Richmond, which are brought inside to the lobbies in the winter, protecting them and creating a lovely interior.

Ex 1: Eric Arthur, who led early heritage advocacy, notably for St Lawrence Hall. But also advocated for modernist architecture when it was forbidden to design in that style at UofT.
