There is something so frustrating when a friend tries to get into something you've been doing for years and then writes off your multi year skill in doing it as talent that they don't have

Like the way I draw, the way I do worldbuilding, those are both skills of mine I've honed and are very proud of. I get very sad when that just gets chalked up to talent.
The people who are the worst about that are those who are have a blazing talent in one area. They always look to all other skills and wonder, ‘Why isn’t it so easy?’
And that is why Talent is a crutch, and sort of a curse.
(1/2)I get you. It's part of the AIBro/corporation narrative to depower the creative worker who worked and developed their own skills on their own volition. You EARNED your skills, you EARNED your respectable laboring to be able to get the results you desire and allows you to grow. Talent--
I had this exact argument with my SO not too long ago, that there is no such thing as innate "talent", just a desire to do it, do it consistently, and that practice is what makes you have perceived "talent"
Anything can be done well once you go past the initial step and practice. It took me a lot of time and upsets to reach the point I'm at now, and I still want to be so much better
I don't at all believe that talent leads to success. It's all hard work and persistence, that's why it's so valuable

Bro literally just listen to the person you're fucking talking to - if they say they had to learn it, they probably did.
IMO its usually people who expect everything fun to be easy for them. Grim stuff
It's good bc I've been doing it for 30 years
