In general I grumble about the degree to which people have gotten lazy. Like I'm lazy too but some of this tomfoolery is too much lazy.

the difference is that being lazy is fine, off boarding the ability to think or do basic research to incorrect AI is just bad for everyone involved

What I wouldn't give for more intuitive search features across platforms and better tagging systems that doesn't actively punish users for filling niche tags ( Tumblr my beloved vs twitter my belothed )

So many platforms make it a chore to search for things and want you to rely on aglo-pushed slop

Yesn't. From my understanding it does suppress external links from showing up in the "for you" tab or tags (Though to my knowledge it's now only if you spam links in your post). It's easily circumvented by posting the link as plain text

I think there's certain tags that Tumblr does suppress which I don't think we're going to avoid on any platform.
But it does not punish you for tagging your post well, only for misusing tags,

versus for example Twitter which I believe was found to suppress posts with hashtags in general unless said hashtag was currently trending.

Both of those things though are only for tag search and the "for you" page. The "following" page is the default on Tumblr which isn't operated by algorithm.

I love the tagging system on Tumblr because I can go to any blog and find everything under that tag, which makes it easy to browse old things, something most socmed make it very hard to do unless the artist aggressively repost their own stuff
