I believe that the more you play the more it truly feels like an authentic Bioware experience. I've seen comparisons of Mass Effect 2 as well. Best to only focus on your experience.

Agreed - the art style and more action oriented gameplay is a big change but the more you play the more it feels like an authentic DA experience. Really enjoying it
I stand by anything I would consider criticizing myself are things I criticize of games in general so it isn’t derivative of Veilguard directly it isn’t fair to hold Veilguard to this flame but ignore other RPGs and games doing the same.
Replaying parts of the beginning are “slow” what game isn’t?
A lot of the goofy comedic writing people seem to hate I can’t say the same I have laughed way more than I should have I guess, but if I’m laughing genuinely and Manfred has me almost in tears yelling at my wife to come see what’s happening is that a bad thing?
I feel like we're in an era where a lot of people think they know all about writing and feel like criticizing it but often it's not bad writing, just something they don't like...or whatever. Haha I hate it here (the internet, not Bluesky)
Ok, genuine question. If I watch something/play something and 'I' feel the writing isn't authentic, as if the characters don't talk to each other in a way that feels real or sincere and i feel that's down to poor writing, what would be an acceptable level of criticism ?
Ed, you know exactly what I'm talking about. Too many people, Influencers and whatnot... Go on and on about "writing" and it's usually because a character did or said something the person didn't want to happen or whatever... that's what I'm talking about.
I literally don't care if someone wants to feel any certain way... but a lot of these criticisms are coming from people that watched a summary or review and are simply taking someone else's word or something out of context.
I don't argue with my friends. I think because I'm usually less serious when I ask serious questions, I come across as exactly the opposite. I'm just a little confused as to what's being said here. You guys always have my utmost respect
It’s funny to me too that Space Marine got such high praise for being grimdark and 40K but 40K grimdark is literally saturated in comedy and irony how it is presented.
Very, and it's like that with everything lately. Everything needs to be hyper focused on being for someone in all regard in every way, or its AWFUL and I'm so over that freaking noise. Like if you can't understand and tell me why a game is good but you didn't enjoy it, I got no time.
I've just seen everything possible made fun of with the game, and at this point you can't convince me it's not a simple hate campaign and people are just blindly posting jokes upon meme, etc and honestly, it's fucking so cringe.
I've seen so many come out like their some sort of DA lore master and they wanted every single element touched on in the prior games to be talked or brought up here... and that's just super unrealistic to me.
The thing is, it really touches on most major points and a bunch of really obscure references too there’s readables and codex etc that brought up things I was honestly never expecting. Like hidden optional bosses from Origins and 2 that linked to a hidden optional boss in DAI and now DATV.
Harding’s entire quest line is mostly derived from DAI The Descent which if people skipped that DLC it went entirely over their heads, and it’s a huge underlying mystery of the entire series (with the dwarves etc)
I really wish we had more deep roads. It seemed like it was mostly about Harding's role (which was awesome) but we just barely got introduced to the Kal-Sharok dwarves. They were always so strongly affected in past blights... but alas. It's ok.
Yeah I don't think it was realistic to deliver over 3 games and countless choices, and neither did Bioware it seems. So it is important to focus on what they did deliver.
