This is exactly why I was so worried about the BC elections. Rents are finally going down now after all of the upzoning and had Rustad won and claimed it as a victory of his own it would have been infuriating

11% in Vancouver but elsewhere isn’t that rosy. Vic is higher YoY for example. Rustad wanted to see the policy back too.

I just kicked myself out of the lower mainland as an owner because I got tired of spending half my net pay check on housing-related expenses.

Quebec is seeing higher housing inflation in % terms and rental agreements no longer port between tenants like they used to. I’d honestly recommend you decide earlier than later. I’m debating the island and Quebec right now myself and as an investment it’s looking more interesting here.

I think MTL rents are holding better than the NCR though. It’s been like +100k on entry level stuff since last year. New builds have the problem of having QST apply here so even if the price is lower you have a near 10% premium on top to pay AND they adopted dev charges recently, they didn’t b4.

This is exactly what happened with public housing here in Lisbon. With the conservatives/liberals in power, no new construction whatsoever has been started, but they are happily propaganding the sh*t out of cutting ribbons of their socialist predecessors' finished projects (way too few anyhow).

Same in the UK , we take so long to get infra delivered in UK benefit could be 1 / 2 electoral cycles aware from a decision made. I think that's one of many reasons for political procrastination.

Cash for Tesla owners and P3s from the Ontario Liberal Party, while better, was still bad and we deserve public-first funding models. The entitlement of the lobbying class to our debt is disgusting and cannot continue.
