Atlanta Fed is already saying a likely -2.8% gdp growth for the U.S. this quarter when it was around +2.0% before Trump. It’s likely going to get way worse here. I’m so fucking angry about it. It’s highly likely I’ll lose my job in transit engineering within a year of starting it.

Turns out laying off hundreds of thousands of federal workers, ending programs that are good, and stopping grant payments illegally negatively affects the economy. Add tariffs to this and the US is going to have Great Depression 2. The only things I have to say about fixing this are not legal

Just imagine how people who lose their jobs, and whose careers are forever damaged by these idiotic tariffs will feel for the rest of their lives about America. The damage is already being done, and it's very real.

Personally avoiding buying American products where I have a choice.

The amazing thing is this going really plays into the hands of China, because you know what China has a lot of the stuff Canada needs as well, and often cheaper. And if people are choosing to either go bankrupt or buy Chinese goods. It's pretty obvious what they're going to choose.

When John Maynard Keynes wrote about Animal Spirits he was talking about investors choosing to hold back funds because of uncertainty thus causing the economy to slow. Whether the tariffs are implemented or not, the constant threats are a deliberate attempt to drive Canada into a recession.

I think most of us just want it done.. the worse is this "maybe, maybe not,..."
And yes, the current trade agreement with the US was negotiated during Trump's first term and he congratulated himself heartily on how "great" it was.
Our economy won't collapse but things will be more difficult.
