Stunned to hear there’ll be “strings attached” to relief sent to California, where I’m living under threat of evacuation from the Big Beast: Wildfires. Never seen wind driven fire this close before. L.A. looks like Hell come to earth in great swathes of once beautiful neighborhoods. God help us all.
