How long is it going to take for the majority of umbrellas to be manufactured in the U.S.? How much will the American consumer have to pay both in the wait time and after American umbrellas come on line?

Barbies are made in Asia, but designed by Mattel in America. How long will it take Mattel to roll up its factories in Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico and Thailand while continuing to maintain the supply of Barbies? At what cost to the consumer? And to Mattel? Is the u.s. going to subsidize Mattel?

There are litterally thousands of products that, like barbies, umbellas, etc., will require years to reconstruct in factories in the U.S. - and that will only remain in the U.S. if the tarrif remains high, meaning a permanent tax.

The issue is treated like we can conjure up, out of magic, a competitive advantage. All of capitalist economics is against this idea. But great, if we are abandoning Adam Smith to the Chicago school, what's the proposal? A sort of East German state directed industrial policy?
