Deactivated my account back in November and it was honestly one of the best decisions I made. Losing 13 years of post history did hurt (I have archived it), but it was for the best with what has become of that place. It's not the same site I joined back in 2011.

Also despite having half the amount of followers I had on Twitter, I'm getting double the amount of likes and reposts. So my stuff is actually getting noticed more here to a smaller audience.

Definitely agree. I feel like 90% of the stuff that I post gets very little in terms of engagement, but then 10% of it blows up. That said I really appreciate how consistent Bluesky has been. Great atmosphere here so far tbh I love it

All of my artist friends reach more people on Twitter still, and would lose a huge chunk of income by axing it.

Hell, I still get 3 to 4 times the interactions on Twitter that I do here when I post art there.

Bluesky has bloomed, but not enough yet.

And Bluesky is developing a bot issue on top.

I wanna make clear I'm in full support of the Twitter exodus. But Bluesky has a lot of work to do still. It needs worldwide reach, the way Twitter sadly still has.

It needs to figure out the bot and fake accounts issue too. I'm getting followed by 2-3 growth hackers/fake bot accounts almost daily.

I agree with the ladder but not the former. Real fans and commissioners won't leave if someone switches platforms.
And while it's unfortunately true, the bot issue is at least twice as bad on X, and X never expressed any will to deal with it, in fact people dealing with it were layed off

Seriously. Peak example of dead internet, most of twitter users are bots or harrasment farmers. Timeline does not push what you like but instead drama, site is plastered with ads, crypto scams and ai, it just worsens your mental health by using it. No future for a website like that.

People have rightfully complained, but now that a good alternative exists they are too stubborn to leave. Change can be tough but it's no excuse to forever stay in a bad place. "But my followers!" If they're real they will follow. Best way to make users migrate is when creators move.

Twitter had made me feel miserable with posting what I wanted. Bluesky didn't make me feel that way.

I'm a bit iffy on different kinds of people following me who typically don't look like they belong in some animation community. It's strange to garner so many followers with fewer interactions.

Look, all I'm saying is that when people started migrating to BlueSky, my content started receiving 10X more views than when the *same shit* was posted on Twitter.

Twitter buried content as hard as it possibly could, especially if it took people off site.
