I have lots of starlings at my bird feeders and I love them - so much argy bargy going on with them - they’re like unruly toddlers 😂. I used to be worried that they would put other birds off coming to my garden, but the others just work around them!

Lovely photo. I have Starlings and Grackles in my backyard and I never realized how beautiful they both were until I looked up close. Starlings with those lovely white "hearts" and Grackles -- who at first glance seem plain -- have incredibly iridescent feathers in the sunlight.

Well, when one Starling got caught in my neighbours pond net, they all circled the garden and made a right racket, until she came out to rescue it. They stayed on to say thank you after the release. So actually very altruistic.

In the late 70s/early 80s Bradford in W.Yorks. Was surrounded by huge clouds of starlings each afternoon as it moved towards sunset. There were probably millions of them. They screeched from every building. It was quite unpleasant but oddly exciting.

I miss those numbers of birds. I remember huge flocks of redwing, fieldfares, lapwing. Definitely part of what drew me into a love of the semi natural world.
