This makes me miss the Thai restaurant I used to frequent in Houston. Absolutely delicious. Fantastic flavors in addition to making me cry through my meal from the spice. I wish I had somewhere near me of even half the caliber.
I'm in Iowa and there's not much that even resembles Thai food around here. We've got giant slabs of fried pork on tiny buns that they call a pork tenderloin sandwich though. Everywhere. No, I do not know why. No, they are not good, even for someone who does eat meat and bread.
My buddy and I used to order the spice level our local Thai place called “Hurt white boy” while we played DnD. We would have to take breaks from RP because we couldn’t talk!
There's a really good Thai place near me that absolutely fucked me up by serving me a SALAD I couldn't handle in terms of spice. I didn't even know salads could be spicy. Full existential crisis.
My local Thai place and I have mutual respect where I can say that I enjoy really spicy food but I also am not trying to prove any standard of machismo and they in return flawlessly accommodate my desires.
Getting sweaty just thinking about it! So good though. We’ve got this little joint called Thai Orchid. It’s been a while, but I used to go there and order the *off the menu ***spice. Oh my Jesus. One night I needed a towel for the fluids evacuating through my skull! 🤣👍🔥
Thai food is only for the most battle hardened of foodie warriors. Know this, should you fall in this battle the gates of Valhalla shall open for you and Odin himself will greet you gladly for the courage you have shown this day!
When we get Thai, I look for a notes section and very humbly let them know I am a white lady who was raised on 90’s casseroles so my ability to handle spice is terrible.
I usually get a spice level zero. A one if I’m feeling brave.

Yeah.
(The sound a sudden gasoline explosion makes)
