We used to like to play down by the river when I was a kid back in the '60s. It was nothing to see wastewater outlets pouring tons of yellow and green poisons into the water.
Same here...we lived on a street that ended where the Little Calumet River ran, in NW Indiana. It was so polluted, even as kids we knew not to touch it.

Haven't you noticed they worked to eliminate the child labor laws? Now, they make conditions for the parents so bad, that desperation forces them to take any job they can get.
Remember those field jobs that immigrants used to do, well guess what you'll be using your degree for.
