These fascists do not want anyone poor to be healthy. They firmly believe that medical care should be reserved for the wealthy, since it lines their pockets.
Well, currently it’s not working out so well for Canada. We have to wait for years in some cases to see a specialist and many of us don’t have a family doctor.
I have never understood in my lifetime why the US has never pursued this. The American system is expensive to operate and does not serve everyone. It was a major reason why I returned to Canada after my postdoc at Northwestern in Illinois in 2004.

Economically, much more efficient.
If you hate your citizens and want to squeeze them for every dime till they die in a horrible amount of debt, then health insurance makes sense too.
And it would work fine if we’d stop voting conservative provincial governments in. They’ve been attacking our public health care for decades.
Properly funded, universal healthcare works. People are just stupid.
