It's very true that for MOST things, you're much better off as a Canadian.
But for the damage wrought by COVID:
- My doctors test orders are routinely refused by provincial guidelines (the province won't pay for tests related to long covid - ones with peer reviewed evidence.
For chronic illness, you might as well be american, because that's the level of care you'll get.
I got refused a disability nutrition supplement because I didn't have proof of brain damage from covid. But the province won't pay for the MRI for the brain damage.
There's strong evidence to think my disability is involving auto immune issues triggered by covid. The province will not pay for auto immune tests and the checklist is structured in such a a way to refuse chronic illness sufferers.
BTW - I am bankrupt, from medical debt, because I paid for medical stuff the province doesn't cover. I even had to finance my wheel chair. The province told me it would take a "LONG" time to get one.
Despite what americans think, we actually do have a two-tier system. The rich pay private (often illegaly) and the rest of us have 18 hour waits in emerge
