I wrote about "Gold *or* XP": my take on gold for XP, which posits that every treasure hoard should force players to make a choice between material advancement & level advancement.

I'm sure someone has already written about this or some existing game does it exactly like this! I would love to hear about it. It is really difficult at this point to do a literature review of like, one of the main conceptual pillars of the OSR lol.
