I wonder how much this is just the phenomenon of taste in music being tied to age. Most of us developed our musical tastes by the age of 30. I turned 30 in that decade so arguably I was still really eager to love new music.
But... I still am. Somehow I just recently discovered Punch Brothers.
now... is it that surprising? They fit well with some of my 2012 tastes; I was into Nickel Creek, Jars of Clay, and Mumford and Sons. It's shocking I didn't discover PB right when they hit. How about Ben Thornwill though, I had no exposure to him until recently although he is my age and started yung
I loved 2010s pop. Loved to pretend I was going to party all night in the club, dancing my life away, etc. etc. when in reality I was going to be sleeping all night in my bed.
i just spent some time going through pictures from 2019, as well as from 2020 forward... the shocker is that I can barely tell the difference. I was just a little thinner.
