It's because the plugin isn't released on https://wordpress.org yet. I submitted it, but it's awaiting review. For now you can only download it from GitHub. And once it's released on https://wordpress.org, it will be automatically updated from there.

Sorry, the git repo readme has some links to the WP org repo, and the first one lands on a search page, the other link gives a 404.
