The Black Panthers did great work using guns to pressure police to be restrained during stops. But that worked *because* guns just aren't a useful way to defend yourself from guns. Which is how Black Panthers were murdered.

The hard, brutal truth of guns is that they do not ever let you protect yourself from other guns, or fight on parity with state power. The *best* case scenario is trading something like 10:1 casualties with state forces, which is the opposite of defending oneself.
