We've spent--what, how many millions of dollars--on #algorithms that can determine human #preferences. And yet, YouTube's best guest for what to show me next is pretty much the same video it just showed me and that's all.

No wonder the ads I see are **always** irrelevant.

One thing I like to remember as I consider corporate promises about what AI will do is that there were corporate promises 20 years ago that algorithms would neatly tailor ads to my preferences so I wouldn't see things I didn't care about.
